3 Strikes and You're Out!
For this exercise we are making landscape contours. You are only allowed 3 lines. You may start anywhere in the square. When you lift your pen from the paper, that is the end of your line. Your line also stops if you touch the edge of the square. Be creative. Think about different types of landscapes: desert, mountains, coastal, neighborhood, etc. Try to make 12, but don't take more than about 15 seconds a piece, limit yourself to about 3 minutes.
There were a few things that I could improve on for this lesson. For one, my lead up should have been more detailed. Next time I would include examples of various landscape to help everyone think about what they could draw. Also leaving examples of the project on the board or tables would be helpful for the students to generate ideas.
Overall I think my lesson went well enough. As I present more lessons and become comfortable with the public speaking aspect I think I'll be able to pay more attention what I'm saying. By the time I'm done speaking I can't remember a word that was said; so video taping my lessons could be beneficial for me to see what is actually going on as I teach.
